Spantik Climbing Expedition

Spantik Peak, also known as Yengutz Peak, marks the boundary between Hunza-Nager and Baltistan in a quieter part of the Karakoram. Locally, it is called the "Golden Peak" or "Golden Pillar," particularly stunning at sunset when viewed from Hunza-Karimabad.

The ascent from the Hunza side, especially via the North Pillar, is technically challenging, first climbed by British mountaineers in 1987. In contrast, the Skardu-Baltistan route offers a more accessible summit approach. Spantik Peak sits at the head of the Chogolungme Glacier in the Arandu Valley, where most climbers use the long, easier Southeast Ridge, known as the "normal route."
