Barah Broq Trek
The Barah Broq trek is one of the hidden gems of Skardu, Baltistan (Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan), offering a mix of alpine meadows, high-altitude lakes, and panoramic views of the Karakoram range. It’s less commercialized than treks like K2 Base Camp or Fairy Meadows, which makes it a great choice for trekkers seeking a quieter adventure. It starts from Barah Valley, about 60–70 km from Skardu town and 3-4 hours’ drive. There are lush green pastures where local shepherds graze yaks and goats and crystal-clear mountain lakes reflecting the surrounding peaks.
It is mmoderate trek of difficulty and suitable for beginners with some fitness for the duration of 3–5 days depending on the route and pace. The best season is June to September and summer is best for greenery and safe passage. The elevation is around 4,000–4,500m at the highest points.
