Ski in Nagar Khas
Uyum Nagar, also known as Nagar Khas, is a scenic town in Gilgit-Baltistan's Nagar Valley, famous for its breathtaking mountain views and proximity to peaks like Rakaposhi and Diran. Although it lacks a formal ski resort, the area is ideal for backcountry skiing, particularly from December to February when snowfall is abundant.
In summer, shepherds live here with their goats and sheep. Several smaller mountains under 6,000 meters are accessible for climbing and skiing, depending on the snowline. Located just an hour's drive from Karimabad, a 3-4 hour trek will take you to a suitable base camp, where shepherds' huts can also be found. The best time for winter sports in Nagar Khas is from December to March, turning the landscape into a snowy paradise.
